सुबह-ए-नाशाद भी, रोज़-ए-नाकाम भी
इनका दमसाज़ अपने सिवा कौन है
शहर-ए-जानां मे अब बा-सफा कौन है
दस्त-ए-क़ातिल के शायां रहा कौन है
रख्त-ए-दिल बांध लो दिलफिगारों चलो
फिर हमीं क़त्ल हो आयें यारों चलो

English Translation:
Lets walk in the market fettered in chains
The tearful eye, the anguished soul is not enough
The accusation of hidden love in not enough
Lets walk in the open market, fettered in chains
Lets walk, hands waving, dancing in trance
Lets walk kicking the dust, with blood on our sleeves
Lets walk while our beloved city watches.
Watching us are the rulers of this city and the common people,
the arrows of accusation, the stones of abuse,
the sad morning and the unsuccessful day.
Who else is their intimate friend barring us!
Who in our beloved city is still pure!
Has anyone remained worthy of the executioners hand?
Gather the materials for your hearts journey to walk, heartbroken ones
Let us again be the ones to come back, murdered, my friends.
